Team approach
Education at
Yarrunga is a team approach. Students, staff and parents work together
to provide the best possible learning outcomes for the students in our
care. Staff work together in a range of professional learning teams to
support one another and work together to achieve school goals and
priorities. Students work together in groups, partners and as
individuals to improve their learning and to participate in school
activities and decision-making at class and school level. School
Council, parents and community volunteers work to support the school and
children’s learning opportunities. |

Secure environment
Yarrunga is a
safe and secure place for the children. They enjoy the predictable,
supervised and stimulating learning environment at the school. Their
classrooms are supportive, ordered, secure and well-planned so that an
excellent working tone is established with an emphasis on time on task
and student involvement in decision-making and responsibility for their
learning. |

Community links
The Yarrunga Primary School is
an important focal point for the Yarrunga and wider Wangaratta
communities. This link with the community is recognised through our
“Community Links” program, which brings people from the Wangaratta
community into our school and takes our students into the community. We
aim to have our students value the opportunities provided by our
community and in turn, for our community to value the wonderful resource
for the community our young people provide, now and into the future. |

Supportive – kids, families, staff
The school has a
strong supportive culture where children are supported to gain
confidence, self-esteem, resilience and a positive view of the future.
Working together to support children, families and staff to fulfill
their roles to the best of their abilities is a key feature of the
school. Our school
values the role parents play in their child’s education and encourage
mutual support of the family and school. The staff at Yarrunga Primary
School are an important resource for our community. We promote the
professional development of staff so that the students receive the best
possible teaching and programs based on research and DEET programs. |
